All students are required to wear straight cut, full length black or navy blue pants. These pants may NOT have cargo pockets, unusual tailoring and/or labels and must fit the student properly. Pants that are too big or too tight are not acceptable and will be deemed in violation of the uniform code. Pants must be worn at waist level. Loose (at the waist) or low pants (below the waist) will not be tolerated.
Tops must be polo shirts bearing the Somerset Academy Key logo and must be black, navy blue or white. Alternatively, a zip sweater bearing the Somerset Academy Key logo may also be worn. Somerset Culture long sleeve is also acceptable. No other shirt colors or styles are permitted. Shirts must be long enough to cover the complete torso area.
School approved and designed sweaters can be worn. Sweaters will be sold at the Somerset Academy Store. They must be navy blue or black. Any student violating the above-mentioned policy will have their outerwear confiscated. Parents MUST pick up the confiscated item in the Front Office after school the following school day. SOMERSET ACADEMY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, STOLEN, or CONFISCATED SWEATERS.
All shoes must be closed front and back, therefore NO sandals, “slides,” slippers, boots, or Croc-like sling-back shoes are allowed at any time on campus.
No buttons, tags, or labels may be worn on the school uniform unless approved by the administration.
Due to safety concerns, facial piercings and gauge-type earrings may NOT be worn at any time.
Students may not have any visible body piercings or tattoos.
Hair may NOT BE dyed or highlighted with UNNATURAL colors, worn unusually, or maintained in unacceptable condition, and may not interfere with the educational process. Hair may be maintained with clips, bobbles or soft hair bands only. Ribbons must be school colors. “Mohawks”, “Frohawks”, or fade designs of any kind are NOT permitted. All facial hair must be properly groomed and neatly kept. At the discretion of the Administration, students may be sent home whose hair is deemed unacceptable.
Headgear (hats, scarves, beanies, bandanas, etc.) is forbidden on school property.
All uniforms must be clean and pressed. Good grooming of hair, skin, and fingernails is expected.
Student ID cards must always be accessible. Inclement Weather Policy: If the temperature decreases below 60 degrees, appropriate winter attire will be accepted at the discretion of the school’s administration. Upon entering the school building, the uniform policy MUST be followed.
Designated Jean Days: Students who participate in the school designated jean days will be allowed to wear BLUE colored jeans without rips or holes and with a school-approved shirt. NO other colored jeans are allowed these days.
